Houston Chronicle - The Women and Children's Services Center at Kingwood Medical Center offers a workshop teaching grandparents all the ins and outs of dealing with pregnancy and caring for newborns. The grandparenting class will outline new child safety and childcare practices, including a lesson in infant CPR. Kingwood Medical Center's Women and Children's Services Center is located at 22999 U.S. 59 North. Schlesser reviews prenatal care, tips for after birth and health problems that are common in babies, including cord care, diapering, the benefits of breastfeeding, changes in formula preparation and feeding and sudden infant death syndrome. Schlesser said the class is designed for those who want to take an active role in their grandchildren's lives. Bell said she also learned that babies should be sitting up instead of lying down while drinking from a bottle. Other classes include breastfeeding support, childbirth preparation, infant safety and CPR, newborn care and a sibling class.
